Excise Tax Auditor

Major duties
This position is located at Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB),Assistant Administrator - Field Operations - Tax Audit Division. As an Excise Tax Auditor, you will: Conduct complex Federal excise tax examinations of alcohol, tobacco, firearms and ammunition industry members. Provide expert excise tax assistance and guidance to Federal and State enforcement officials as well as the members of industries. Plan, coordinate, and lead audit teams conducting examinations that vary from limited scope to complex examinations of regulated industry members. Interview accountants, representatives of financial institutions, industry representatives, and others including Federal and State officials to obtain information relative to excise tax liability.
What you need to qualify
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement. Specialized Experience: For the GS-13, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes: - Planning and performing financial audits; AND - Preparing written products used to develop the final audit report. In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-13, you must have been at the GS-12 level for 52 weeks.
