Major duties

You will serve as an Equipment Specialist in the Electronic Maintenance Division (N41), Maintenance Department (N4), at Naval Computer and Telecommunications Area Master Station Atlantic (NCTAMS LANT). You will manage all professional, technical, and administrative aspects of the regional calibration program and calibration laboratory. You will prioritize workload scheduling for assigned calibration lab personnel to provide regional activities with the optimum "Turn-Around-Time" (TAT). You will oversee and/or personally perform preparation of all shipments. You will provide training to lab personnel on the shipping policies of GPETE/SPETE involving calibration certification and integrity. You will make decisions regarding the non-routine training and potential deployment of calibration personnel to regional activities to perform on-site calibration at the respective site. You will oversee the research and ordering of all repair parts and consumables necessary for the short-range operation of the calibration lab.

What you need to qualify

Applicant must have directly applicable experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job, but will clearly demonstrate past experience in the application of the particular competencies or knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position. Such experience is typically in or directly related to the work of the position to be filled. Qualifying experience would be demonstrated by: -Experience developing and implementing calibration-training programs. -Experience making technical and administrative decisions on various calibration problems that may arise. -Experience preparing annual regional budgetary estimates for all overflow calibration and repair services. -Experience recommending and/or appointing selections for various positions within the calibration lab. This position is within the Work Category PROFESSIONAL at Work Level FULL-PERFORMANCE, Series and Grade GG-1670-12. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
