What you'd do
This position is located at: Home of Heroes - Fort Polk, Louisiana. Fort Polk's Home of Heroes delivers strong Soldier and Family support with fitness, recreation, dining, and community programs that build resilience, readiness, and connection across the installation. Driven leaders to strengthen Soldier and Family programs. Lead fitness, recreation, and community services with a focus on readiness, customer care, and team performance.
Major duties
Supervises a staff of 3-12 employees, assigns and reviews work assignments on a daily, weekly, or longer basis. Plans work schedules, approves or disapproves leave, determines performance objectives and rates performance. Must be able to support the activity by applying a practical knowledge of recreational activities and skills in the use of recreation materials and facilities. Executes diverse recreation programs for a wide patron base, delivering social events, tournaments, and major ethnic, patriotic, and holiday observances with varied, multi-disciplinary activities. Assures that proper security measures are taken to safeguard monies, property, equipment and facility. Assists with other recreation programs in the Recreation Center as needed. Performs other duties as assigned.
What you need to qualify

A qualified candidate must possess the following: Must have knowledge of wide range of recreation and sports activities, organization and structure of military units and installation sports program objectives, policies, methods and procedures to plan, organize, and coordinate activities, assist, guide and motivate military staff in carrying out their responsibilities. Must have basic understanding of budget and supply functions in order to prepare input and justification of funding for supplies and equipment. Must have the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing (English). Work experience or education directly related to the duties to be performed. Highly preferred candidates will be referred to management first. In additional to meeting the above qualifications, highly preferred is defined as also meeting all of the criteria listed below: 2 years Experience working with NAF MWR programs and activities, financial management, AOB Budget creation, long range calendars, preparing marketing plans, and coordinating with partnering programs such as SHARP/EEO/EO/ASAP/AFAP. Experience preparing program briefs, situation reports, and other presentations. Point of Sale (POS) experience such as REC TRAC, reports such as Daily Activity Reports (DAR's), Financial sales reports and usage and participation reporting.
