What you'd do

This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies. Applications will not be accepted through this flyer. Major duties

You will sort recyclable materials into designated containers, processes the material by using machines and prepare the material for storage. You will assist in keeping record of items received, processed, and delivered to contractors. You will assist higher-grade employees in the loading, unloading, and transporting of recyclable material by truck and forklift. You will perform daily inspection and maintenance of recycling yards. You will provide customer service by collecting and receiving recyclables from activities, base housing, recycling collection containers and units on a continual basis.

What you need to qualify

Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: ???????The ability to learn proper handling of recyclable material is required. Able to read, interpret Base, Local, State and Federal Regulations, technical guidelines concerning recycling and solid waste management. The ability to identify recyclables and to process those items when turned in or collected. Able to recognize violations of disposal policies. Skills in communicating and dealing tactfully with generators and the public are highly desirable. Must be able to learn safety requirements and skills in storage, movement to prevent tipping, crushing, or other damage. The skills to operate trucks, forklifts, balers, and related equipment (i.e., scales, bobcat tractor, can flattener) are desired. Performs daily inspection and maintenance of recycling yards. Knowledge and skills concerning warehousing procedures are beneficial. Qualified incumbents will assist in the movement and loading of material.
