FIRE PROTECTION INSPECTOR
What you'd do
You will serve as a FIRE PROTECTION INSPECTOR in the EMERGENCY SERVICES DEPARTMENT of NSA WASHINGTON.
Major duties
You will inspect equipment (e.g., fire extinguisher, sprinkler systems, exits) to verify they are fully operational and meet regulatory requirements. You will perform a health and safety inspection in accordance with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Standard 1500. You will perform daily preventative maintenance inspections of firefighting tools and equipment to inform work leader of any mechanical problems or required maintenance. You will assess agency compliance with law, regulations, policies, and requirements related to fire prevention of fire protection programs. You will advise on safety and health directives (e.g., Occupational Safety and Health Administration [OSHA]) to maintain safety of personnel and facilities.
What you need to qualify
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Providing cause and origin investigation, troubleshooting, hazard abatement follow-up, engineering reviews, and special compliance requirements; 2) Providing situational and/or classroom training regarding hazardous operations permit issuance, water distribution system testing, fire protections system testing and evaluation, facility pre-fire plans, and facility familiarization; and 3) Utilizing expertise to identify and categorize hazards, determine which laws, codes, regulations, criteria's, policies, or procedures apply. This position requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications: Firefighter I & II, HAZMAT Operations, HAZMAT Technician, Airport Firefighter, Driver Operator Aerial, Driver Operator Pumper, Fire Inspector I & II, and Fire Instructor I. Also requires National Registry Emergency Medical Technician Basic (NREMT).
