About the Position: This position is located at Oak Harbor Birthing Center, Oak Harbor WA. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service.
Major duties
Responsible for maintaining command readiness for Joint Commission (JC) surveys. Prepares documentation, written reports, and presentations for the Executive Board on compliance with JC standards. Provides education to all levels of staff on JC standards implementation and compliance. Collects data and conducts hospital-wide and department specific studies (clinical/non-clinical) to promote and improve organizational performance. Collects, collates and displays data utilizing appropriate computer software, spreadsheets, statistical and performance improvement tools and other technical modalities as appropriate The incumbent will be responsible for reviewing hospital-wide department minutes, instructions and procedures for informational purposes and/or updating/revising internal instructions and procedures for the department when appropriate. Communicates pertinent information to the Department Head related to program evaluation of operation and milestones. The incumbent will be responsible for retrieving patient information from a variety of data sources including medical records and hospital computer systems (MHS GENESIS).

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes managing Joint Commission readiness and compliance, training staff on quality improvement standards, and managing sensitive data. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in hospital administration, public health administration, or related fields such as business or public administration with course work in health care administration. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
