ACCOUNTANT
What you'd do
You will serve as a ACCOUNTANT in the ACCOUNTING DEPARTMENT of NAVAL AIR SYSTEMS COMMAND.
Major duties
You will perform financial analysis, accounting, audit readiness, and payment validation. You will support pre-validation of vendor and contract payments by reviewing denied MOCAS, TFO, and TBO transactions. You will perform accounting functions by reviewing SF 1081 packages, preparing SF 1034 miscellaneous payments, and supporting Budget Execution Validation (BEV) for General Fund (GENF) and Working Capital Fund (WCF) activities. You will review and analyze asset-related financial reporting, processes, documentation, and data. You will manage the controls testing and substantive testing with the NAVAIR Financial Improvement Audit Readiness (FIAR) Team and NAVAIR stakeholders. You will be responsible for communicating with internal and external customers and stakeholders. You will research unmatched transactions, prepare financial adjustments, support internal controls, coordinate with stakeholders, and ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance. You will process invoices and receipts; maintain records; coordinate with reconciliation teams; and prepare pre-validation packages. You will develop process flows and memorandums; and ensure internal controls are implemented to mitigate financial statement risks and support audit readiness.
What you need to qualify
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band NH-02 in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
