MANAGER
What you'd do
You will serve as a MANAGER in the Ocean Science, Autonomous Systems and Ranges Department (Code 754) of NAVUNSEAWARCENDIV NEWPORT RI. This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project. The ND-05 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to the GS-14 and GS-15.
Major duties
You will serve as Ocean Sciences Division Head in the Ocean Science, Autonomous Systems and Ranges Department. You will be responsible for the overall management, technical and administrative oversight and direction of the division’s assigned tasking, financial resources and personnel. You will be responsible for workforce shaping and stewardship of the division’s technical and administrative personnel. You will be responsible for the supervision of subordinate branch heads and division staff and leadership to ensure sustained effective and efficient execution of the tasks assigned to the division. You will be a core member of the Department Leadership Council and participates directly in decisions made by the Department Leadership team, including business development and strategic planning. You will require knowledge and experience in applicable ocean science principles to lead the Division to provide in-depth and comprehensive understanding of the oceanic environment. You will inspire, motivate and guide others toward goal accomplishment; coaching, mentoring, and challenging your subordinates.
What you need to qualify
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the ND-04 (GS-12/13 equivalency) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: demonstrating experience managing personnel, conducting research and development and implementing Systems Engineering principles to apply strategic thinking related to organizations or capabilities development, taking accountability for personal actions and/or the organization, communicating effectively with senior leaders (SES/Flag Level) for the overall management, technical and administrative oversight and execution of tasks assigned to the organization.
