THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a POWERED SUPPORT SYSTEMS MECHANIC, Position Description Number D1067000 and is part of the PA Army Aviation Support Facility 1, National Guard. 1 or more Position(s) may be hired against this Announcement.

Major duties

As a POWERED SUPPORT SYSTEMS MECHANIC, WG-5378-10 you will be responsible for the Ground Support Equipment maintenance program, inventory control, and the identification and scheduling of preventive maintenance requirements for ground support equipment. Trouble-shoot, repair; service; perform modifications on, and operate powered ground support equipment such as AC and DC power generators, air compressors, blowers, heaters, portable lighting units, deicers and non-powered equipment to include work stands, jacks, ramps, tow-bars, etc. Perform required preventive maintenance and servicing of equipment including repairing and replacing tires, lubrication, oil changes, replacing air, fuel and oil filters, checking fluid levels; and adjusting or replacing ignition parts, hoses, v-belts, and other items. Perform major system component overhaul/rebuild, repair/replacement and troubleshooting as needed, to include but not limited to, power-plant systems, brake systems, steering systems, hydraulic systems, diesel and gas systems, air systems, starting systems, ignition systems and electrical systems in addition to the following components, power-plant, brake, fuel, steering, hydraulic, air, starting, ignition and electrical system. APPOINTMENT STATUS: EXCEPTED This is a Dual Status Excepted Service Technician position in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard. AREA OF CONSIDERATION: Non-Bargaining Position AOC 1: NG Employees at the Army Aviation Support Facility 1 AOC 2: NG employees in the State Army Aviation Office (This includes AASF 1, AASF 2, and EAATS) AOC 3: NG Employees of the Pennsylvania National Guard AOC 4: All service members of the Pennsylvania National Guard (This includes Traditional Airmen, Temporary Technicians and AGR Personnel) AOC 5: Individuals who are currently serving in another branch of service who are willing to become members of the PANG Military Grades: ENLISTED: E1-E9 Supervisor for this position is CW4 Raho *NOTE: Accessioning into this position is contingent upon verification of Secret Security Clearance -Individual(s) nominated must successfully complete a baseline initial employment physical examination in accordance with 5 CFR, Part 339 and Technician Personnel Regulation TPR 335. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates the knowledge of mechanical maintenance work; ability to read and use technical manuals, illustrations, diagrams and schematics, and skill in the use of equipment and hand tools used in troubleshooting, testing and repairing equipment. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Application must indicate experience or training removing, adjusting, replacing, cleaning, and installing parts, components, and accessories. Experience which provided working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic theory applying to powered support equipment and systems; and skill to replace, fit, install, and make adjustments. Experience which provided working knowledge of the makeup and operation of the various individual systems maintained and their interrelationships. Experience reading and interpreting parts lists, manufactures' repair manuals, diagrams, and electrical schematics. QUALITY OF EXPERIENCE: Length of time is not of itself qualifying. Candidates' experience should be evaluated on the basis of duties performed rather than strictly on the rank of the individual; however, established compatibility criteria/assignments must be followed. The applicant's record of experience, training, and education must show possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to fully perform the duties of the position to be filled. SPECIAL NOTE: Per the Merit Promotion and Placement Plan (MPP) if there are more than 15 qualified applicants for each position, by category, a KSA board will be convened in accordance with Chapter 4 of the MPP.
