Major duties

Manages the operations and security of the DEERS/RAPIDS workstations as a certified Site Security Manager (SSM). Adds, trains, and assigns roles of users and views or updates the RAPIDS configuration utilities. Uses delegated authority and system access to perform complicated system changes, to include overrides, creating new personnel records/segments, and updating personnel attributes. Serves as primary point of contact for and coordinates with other military installations in authenticating and validating requests for CACs/USIDs and DEERS/RAPIDS enrollment updates. Serves as a Site Security Manager for the Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS). Operates the installation’s electronic security system (ESS). Supports installation physical security and law enforcement programs by producing analytical reports pertaining to ID card issuance and lost or stolen identification credentials.

What you need to qualify

To qualify for a Security Assistant (Site Security Manager), your resume and supporting documentation must support: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-07 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: Supporting physical security and access control programs at a facility or installation Authenticating and validating requests for Common Access Cards (CAC) / User IDs and/or DEERS/RAPIDS enrollment updates Extensive knowledge of DoD, DLA, and installation-specific access control requirements Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
