About the Position: This position is located within Nursing Operations, Department of Nursing, Brooke Army Medical Center at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service.
Major duties
Receive visitors and answer telephone calls to the office. Assist in the new Nurse Corps Officer Integration Program (NCOIP) within assigned nursing service section. Serve as the assigned Nursing Section subject matter expert on the deployment of Defense Medical Human Resources System (DMHRSi). Provide oversight of all the Medical Support Assistant Office Automation (Unit/Ward Clerks) assigned to the Nursing Service. Arrange conferences, meetings, and short suspense requirements to meet the section’s needs. Ensure that all forms and office supplies are well stocked.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing receptionist functions; ensuring policies and procedures are followed; and assisting nursing staff with any administrative tasks. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
