MATERIAL EXAMINER AND IDENTIFIER
What you'd do
You will serve as a MATERIALS EXAMINER AND IDENTIFIER in the Environmental Affairs Branch of the Installations Support Division at the MARINE CORPS AIR GROUND COMBAT CTR.
Major duties
You will perform a variety of collection, receiving, sorting, dismantling, loading, transport types of solid waste, and recyclables of material. You will operate one or more motor vehicles including platform trucks, van trucks, pick-up trucks, and stake trucks to aid in loading and unloading the processing of scrap and refuse material. You will recycle and/or dispose of all wastes in accordance with environmental laws, regulations, directives, and order for compliance. You will complete paper work, such as, mileage reports, weight tickets, trip tickets, preventative maintenance sheets, accident reports, and equipment process weight logs.
What you need to qualify
Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision doing the work of Materials Examiner and Identifier including the collection and recycling operations, recognize basic metals, and achieve maximum recycling of waste material to minimize disposal into the landfill. Under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.
