What you'd do

You will serve as a Supervisory Police Officer in the Force Protection Division, Operations Department of NS NORFOLK SECURITY DETACHMENT.

Major duties

You will oversee the operations of the Security Department operating under pre-prescribed guidelines and procedures espoused by leadership. You will ensure leadership is immediately notified of situations or incidents that arise during the shift that may have an impact or be detrimental to the installation's security posture. You will provide input and recommendations to leadership on operational requirements, the deployment of effective counter measures, personnel, equipment, and resources needed to ensure an effective security program is provided to the installation. You will respond to and investigate complaints while interpreting and enforcing state and federal laws, the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ), DoD and Navy regulations, and installation directives, rules and regulations. You will respond to intrusion detection system (IDS) alarms, emergency calls, complaints, and other calls for service while on duty. You will operate electronic tactical police communications equipment, including mobile data terminals to receive dispatches, respond to calls and complete official reports. You will perform a full range of force protection, anti-terrorism and sentry duties at installations. You will ensure individuals requesting access to the installation have proper identification. You will detect and investigate unusual situations/conditions, take required action to resolve various incidents/situations, and request additional support, if necessary.

What you need to qualify

In order to qualify for this position, your resume must provide sufficient experience and/or education, knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are being considered. Therefore, we encourage you to be clear and specific when describing your experience. Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Directing and making immediate decisions in the provisions of law enforcement (LE), antiterrorism (AT), and Force Protection (FP); 2) Performing a full range of duties and responsibilities in preventing terrorist activities, resolving offenses, conducting preliminary and ongoing investigations of incidents; 3) Documenting law enforcement and security events and the issuance of citations; 4) Implementing force protection condition (FPCON) measures and random antiterrorism measures (RAM) in the response to command direction and terrorist threats.
