What you'd do

About the Position: Serve as the Records Officer for the Office of Chief Information Officer, Arlington National Cemetery (ANC).

Major duties

Conduct searches and retrieve records for past matters, including processing Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests. Schedule periodic Records Management assessments with regard to policies/procedures to determine the effectiveness of the program. Develop filing and retrieval system for organization records in all media, ensures that such systems are adequate for the maintenance and disposition of records. Develop instructional and informational materials for use in improving and standardizing recordkeeping systems. Develop and implement accurate, thorough, and up-to-date Records Management policies/procedures to facilitate efficient record-keeping program organization wide. Publish articles for organization-wide distribution concerning aspect of records management areas as required. Collaborate with managers of organizational activities to negotiate work-related changes, resolve problems, and improve information systems capabilities. Develop and champion long-range strategic goals and resource projections for RM programs to include preparing and monitoring program budgets.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes implementing electronic and/or manual records management procedures; developing records and information management plans for senior leadership; ensuring pertinent records are properly safeguarded and/or prepared for disposition; and reviewing and redacting responsive records in compliance with respective laws and organizational policies. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
