What you'd do
The FRTIB is looking for a highly qualified and motivated individual to serve as a Writier-Editor. Special selection priority consideration will be given under the Career Transition Assistance program (CTAP) and the Interagency Career Transition Assistance Program (ICTAP) to well-qualified surplus or displaced candidates within the local commuting area.
Major duties
Writes and edits TSP booklets, forms, fact sheets, tax information, and other informational content distributed to participants and beneficiaries through various media, including the TSP website, emails, videos, social media, and presentations. Proofreads draft and final materials; reviews content for accuracy, clarity, consistency, tone, and overall effectiveness; and conducts final quality assurance reviews of published products. Facilitates internal agency reviews of messaging, publications, and other content; analyzes feedback from reviewers and revises drafts accordingly to ensure accuracy and alignment with agency objectives. Serves as the agency's lead authority to ensure organization, clarity, simplicity, and appropriateness of tone, as well as correct sentence structure and word choice.
What you need to qualify
Specialized Experience: Applicants must have at least one year of full-time specialized work experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the next lower level (equivalent to the GS-12) in the federal government. Specialized experience is defined as: a) Writing and editing communication products for a variety of audiences. b) Copyediting and correcting grammar, punctuation, style, and format, according to the style conventions of an agency/organization. c) Interpreting complex information and developing clear, plain-language content tailored to diverse audiences. d) Applying writing and editing techniques to develop content for print, web, and digital communication channels. e) Assessing communication needs and recommending effective messaging strategies to support organizational goals. *Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized experience must meet 52 weeks equivalent to the next lower grade level. A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
