What you'd do

You will serve as a QUALITY ASSURANCE SPECIALIST in the Quality Assurance Department of Trident Refit Facility, Bangor (TRFB). This announcement is for an Upward Mobility Program (UMP) position.

Major duties

You will perform various developmental assignments for the Quality Assurance Department divisions at Trident Refit Facility (TRF) Quality Assurance by assisting senior Quality Assurance Specialists (QAS). You will support senior quality assurance specialists while executing reviews, surveillances, and audits to evaluate technical and administrative operations conformance to procedural, technical, and quality assurance requirements. You will collect data from surveillances, audits, deficiency reports, and examinations. You will review material certification, inspection, and test results of production, inspection personnel, or contractors to ensure technical adequacy and compliance with technical requirements. You will aid with the development and maintenance of procedures or training for quality assurance programs. You will obtain information from databases, technical requirement documents, and other systems. Maintaining and retrieving historical records. You will attend formal and informal training courses. You will receive on the-job training by observing senior quality assurance staff in performance of quality management duties or performing work under observation.

What you need to qualify

The Upward Mobility Program is a unique job opportunity. This program is designed to provide Department of Navy employees career growth opportunities who have potential but do not presently meet the Office of Personnel Management qualification requirements for this position. The entry level for this position is GS-09 with a full performance level of GS-12. Knowledge of employees selected may vary and will require the development of an individually tailored training plan to assist them in qualifying for the full performance level of this position. Eligibility requires that the employee be performing satisfactorily, complete all training requirements, acquire the requisite qualifications and have met time-in-grade eligibility for career ladder promotions. This recruitment is open to applicants with GS-09 or WG-10 (or higher) equivalent experience demonstrating the ability to assist with quality assurance teams with reviews, inspections, or audits to ensure technical or administrative standards are met. Employee Participation Requirements: Must be a current permanent employee serving under a competitive appointment, or under a time-limited or excepted appointment that provides for noncompetitive conversion to a permanent appointment (e.g., VRA, Schedule A) Employees must be GS-09 or WG-10 equivalent (or higher) to be eligible for this opportunity Have a current annual performance rating of fully successful or equivalent rating Additional qualification information can be found from the following Office of Personnel Management web site: https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/#url=List-by-Occupational-Series Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social).
