Information Receptionist (Office Automation)

Major duties
If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for receptionist, office automation (OA), and clerical support duties in the United States Attorney's Office for the District of Kansas. Typical work assignments will include: Receiving telephone calls and visitors to the office; Controlling access to the office and ensuring only properly cleared visitors are authorized entry; Providing general information regarding office programs; Processing all incoming and outgoing mail; Receiving all checks and money orders, recording receipt in automated check log; Using various software to produce a variety of documents; Assisting in docketing for the case tracking and record-keeping system; and Providing clerical and office automation support. Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.
What you need to qualify
To be eligible at the GS-5 level, you must meet at least ONE of the following conditions, as defined below: Specialized Experience, Education, OR a combination of Education and Experience. Specialized Experience: One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-4 level. Specialized Experience is defined as experience performing administrative or clerical duties in an office environment. Examples of specialized experience include: receiving telephone calls and greeting visitors to the office; responding to inquiries and providing general information; producing a variety of written documents utilizing several types of office automation software; and entering information into an automated database. Education: four successfully-completed academic years of education above high school level or possess a bachelor's or higher degree (transcripts required) Combination Experience and Education: Combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements. In order to qualify based on a combination, college education must be in excess of 60 semester hours or beyond the second year. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience. (transcripts required) To be qualified, you must type at least 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. (A typing test may later be required.) Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies. If your agency has notified you in writing that you are a displaced employee eligible for ICTAP consideration, you may receive selection priority if: 1) this vacancy is within your ICTAP eligibility; 2) you apply under the instructions in the announcement; and 3) you are found well-qualified for this vacancy. To be well-qualified, you must satisfy all qualification requirements for the vacant position and receive a score of 85 or better on established ranking criteria. You must provide proof of eligibility to receive selection priority.
