The Southern Arizona Veterans Healthcare System is currently seeking a Podiatrist (Clinical Director) for Surgical Rearfoot and Ankle to assume clinical and administrative duties by providing leadership, direction, and day-to-day supervision of assigned providers.

Major duties

VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Attend required Clinical Director meetings with the Chief of Surgical Service Expected to issue and complete performance appraisals and perform competency evaluations. Maintain an up-to-date schedule which provides appropriate coverage in the Podiatry Surgery clinics, and Inpatient coverage. Responsible for the oversight of all aspects of medical care delivered to patients under their care. During scheduled tour hours, the incumbent will be available for all urgent assessments and interventions as part of the Podiatry Surgery consult service care team. Participate in various hospital committees, Surgical Service and hospital in-service programs, and education programs of the Surgical Service and the hospital. Assist with the enforcement of VA TMS and BLS requirements pertaining to staff physicians and mid-level providers. Engage in continuous quality improvement by participating in the VA peer review process Responsible for graduate and undergraduate medical education and scientific research, as appropriate Assign work to personnel and responsible for (day to day) time and attendance recordkeeping Clinical Duties: The incumbent is expected to remain privileged and practicing in their specialty field. The exact privileges and procedures for a particular provider will be approved by the Professional Standards Board. Work Schedule: Full-time, Permanent, Monday-Friday, 8:00 am-4:30 pm Telework: Not Available Virtual: This is not a virtual position.

What you need to qualify

Podiatrist Basic Requirements United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. English Language Proficiency. Physicians appointed to direct patient-care positions must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d) and 7407(d). Education: Degree as a doctor of podiatric medicine, or its equivalent, from a school of podiatric medicine approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs. Approved schools are United States schools of podiatric medicine approved by the Council on Podiatry Education of the American Podiatry Association in the year in which the degree was granted. ~AND~ Residency Training: Completed, or currently completing, residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. VA Podiatrists involved in academic training programs may be required to be board certified for faculty status. Approved residencies are: (1) Those approved by the accrediting bodies for graduate medical education, the Council on Podiatric Medical Education, in the list published for the year the residency was completed, or (2) Other residencies and training experiences, or their equivalents, which the local Professional Standards Board determines to have provided an applicant with appropriate professional training. ~AND~ Licensure and Registration: Currently hold, or will hold, a full and unrestricted license to practice Podiatry in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or in the District of Columbia.
