FIREFIGHTER (BLS/ HAZMAT TECHNICIAN)
What you'd do
You will serve as a FIREFIGHTER (BLS/ HAZMAT TECHNICIAN) of NAS PENSACOLA.
Major duties
You will perform structural firefighting duties for a variety of facilities that may include research and/or large industrial complexes. You will perform standby duty during aircraft refueling and defueling, engine maintenance and testing, welding and burning on fueled and/or armed aircraft, ammunition handling or other special circumstances. You will perform emergency protocols and procedures by providing basic life support (BLS) established by the system medical director. You will provide tactical or strategic level guidance for response personnel at hazardous materials incidents in confinement, control, and containment of various classes of hazardous materials.
What you need to qualify
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Controlling or extinguishing fires as a member of an organized military, industrial, volunteer, or governmental fire department/brigade; 2) Performing rescue operations; 3) Detecting, reducing, or eliminating potential fire hazards; 4) Controlling hazardous materials incidents; 5) Driving and operating firefighting vehicles; and 6) Performing non-invasive emergency medical procedures. Note: This information must be supported in your resume to be considered for this position. This position requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications: Firefighter I/II, Airport Firefighter, Hazmat Technician, Driver Operator Pumper, Driver Operator ARFF, and National Registered EMT. These certifications must have been awarded by DoD, IFSAC or ProBoard to meet the requirement.
