Major duties
As an International Trade Specialist (Pathways Recent Graduates), you will perform the following duties: Supports senior specialists by performing research and analysis of trade data, trade policy, trade promotion, export facilitation, trade barriers, foreign direct investment, and additional topics or issues within a larger project or assignment. Participates in meetings or conferences for developmental programs for awareness and to provide a clear and effective exchange of information within and outside the organization. Assist in preparing actions and reports using multiple media formats; and support the development of responses/analyses for multiple audiences and stakeholders. Contributes to the assimilation of work of senior specialist and/or subject matter experts in order to prepare finished analytical products. This Job Opportunity Announcement may be used to fill other International Trade Specialist (Pathways Recent Graduates) GS-1140-7, full performance level, GS-13, positions within the Department of Commerce in the same geographical location with the same qualifications and specialized experience.
What you need to qualify

Graduation / expect graduation date MUST be indicated on your resume. Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the next lower grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. This experience need not have been in the federal government. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies; knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. To qualify at the GS-7 level: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: You must possess one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-5 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as: Gathering and organizing information from various sources and preparing or maintaining documents, records, or other written materials; and Providing administrative, technical, or program support to track assignments and assist with the completion of work activities. -OR- SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION: one full year of graduate-level education -OR- a bachelor's degree with Superior Academic Achievement in a related field of study such as global business management, global public policy, international finance, business administration, textile and apparel studies, political science, economics, marketing, international trade, international business, international affairs, international relations, international economics, or other related fields of study. Superior Academic Achievement is based on (1) a grade-point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale for all completed undergraduate courses, or 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale for courses completed during the final two years of undergraduate study; (2) a rank in the upper one-third of the graduating class; or (3) membership in a national scholastic honor society recognized by the Association of College Honor Societies. -OR- COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: combination of successfully completed graduate-level education and specialized experience described in A and B above that, when combined, meets the total qualification requirements for the GS-07 grade level.
