What you'd do

This position is located at Bureau of Engraving and Printing, within the Police Operations Division. As a Supervisory Police Officer, you will be the Commander of the uniformed Police Officers and responsible for directing overall police operations and administration through subordinate branch heads and supervisors.

Major duties

As a Supervisory Police Officer, you will: Manage and supervise the activities of two divisional branches consisting of approximately 110 employees engaged in police operations, training, and support services. Maintain liaison activities with private and governmental law enforcement and intelligence agencies coordinating such matters as protective services, surveillance activities, and enforcement programs. Direct and oversee studies, surveys, and inspections designed to determine the effectiveness and adequacy of the police force. Based on survey findings and recommendations, directs the creation, revision, refinement, or modification of regulations and procedures pertaining to protective services programs and police post orders. Technical authority in the police services specializations, develop regulations and security policies, take into account the effects or conflicting laws, policies, and regulations and participates in promulgating security policies and regulations which are flexible enough, despite changes in security technology, to remain current in meeting security program objectives.

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement. Minimum Age Requirement: Must be at least 21 Years of Age. AND Specialized Experience: For the TR-13, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the TR-12/GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes: - Experience in police administration, organization, techniques, practices, policies, functions and programs in order to implement policies and direct the management of the overall police operations for an organization; AND -Experience coordinating special police operations which includes acting as a liaison with other law enforcement personnel, developing special operation plans for high valued asset movements, and acting on specific threats to a facility or installation; AND -Experience ensuring compliance in day-to-day operations with established security criteria prescribed for interior and exterior protection programs; such as Federal, State, and local laws, internal and external rules, regulations, and directives, police manuals, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Federal Law Enforcement Training Accreditation (FLETA), etc. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Possess a valid state motor vehicle operator's license upon appointment OR within 90 days of appointment (as appropriate) and maintain a valid license while you occupy the position. Wear required safety clothing and/or equipment required by the position. This may include safety shoes, body armor, equipment belt, hearing protection, gloves, masks, etc. Lautenberg Amendment: This position requires carrying a firearm. Any person who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence cannot lawfully possess a firearm or ammunition (Title 18, U.S.C., Section 922(g)(91). You will be ineligible to occupy this position if at any time you have been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence, unless you received a pardon or your conviction was expunged or set aside - Maintaining firearm proficiency is also mandatory. Complete or have previously completed the Mixed Basic/Uniformed Police Training Program course(s) at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) in Glynco, GA. Carry and use a firearm. Maintaining firearm proficiency is also mandatory.
