What you'd do

You will serve as a INTERDISCIPLINARY ENGINEER/SCIENTIST in the AIRBORNE ASW ENGINEERING DIVISION, AVIONICS ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT of NAVAIRWARCENAC DIV.

Major duties

You will formulate advanced engineering design concepts and performance requirements that serve as the foundation for all technical planning. You will assist in coordinating operational testing, and evaluate test results to recommend necessary actions. You will manage and coordinate the technical planning, budgeting, and scheduling for product improvement efforts. You will work closely with contractor engineering personnel to resolve technical issues, performing multi-discipline engineering trade-off studies to justify technical approaches. You will establish and maintain contact with high-level officials to exchange information, interpret requirements, and negotiate approvals. You will advise department leadership on technical matters and serve on special panels to refine the engineering tools and standards used for the execution of projects.

What you need to qualify

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the DP-04 pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate some or all of the following: 1) Directing and managing the comprehensive technical development of complex Acoustic Sensor Systems from initial conceptualization through operational release; 2) Leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams to formulate advanced design concepts, draft critical program documentation, direct systems engineering management functions, develop contract specifications, and evaluate contractor proposals; 3) Managing technical planning, scheduling, and product improvement efforts; 4) Providing strategic technical oversight within the acquisition framework, to include organizing progress reviews, executing multi-discipline trade-off studies to resolve contractor design issues, and integrating cost estimates with test requirements to formulate acquisition budgets; and 5) Serving as the primary technical expert and engineering representative for Acoustic Sensor Systems, leading technical discussions during program reviews, contract negotiations, and budget meetings.
