WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY As a Public Health Analyst, you will: Develop short- and long-range public health program goals, objectives, and policies, and analyze complex public health policies, programs, and statistical standards to advise senior management. Analyze existing or proposed systems, strategies, services, or other health-related matters for long-range implementation and administration of the public health program. making. Serve as an expert analyst in identifying, prioritizing, developing, monitoring, implementing, and evaluating complex, interrelated public health programs involving governmental and non-governmental organizations at community, state, national, and/or international levels. Research and prepare responses to written and telephonic inquiries, including developing Congressional briefing materials, summarizing public information, and interpreting administrative policies for subordinate program activities. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR Basic Qualifications: Your experience must provide evidence of the following: Knowledge of organizational, operational, and programmatic concepts and practices applied by public, private, or nonprofit agencies and organizations engaged in public health or other health-related activities. Knowledge of the methods, processes, and techniques used to develop and deliver public health or health-related programs in State and local settings. Knowledge of a specialized public health program. Knowledge of, and skill in, the application of administrative or analytical methods and techniques necessary for working within the framework of a public health or related organization and carrying out specific program functions. Skill in oral and written communications, gathering and conveying information, making oral presentations, and preparing reports, correspondence, and other written materials. Minimum Qualifications: You must have one year of specialized experience to perform successfully the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service performing ALL of the following: Developing and administering public health and/or Health Information Technology (Health IT) programs, including policy, procedures, and guidelines. Monitoring and reviewing Health IT trends and emerging health information technology used by the healthcare industry in support of public health priorities. Analyzing issues involving complex Health IT technical terminology and system interactions and clearly communicates findings in plain language. Engaging with health IT standards development organizations (SDOs), such as IHE, HL7, and/or NCPDP, etc. to support nationwide interoperability efforts. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to gain employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. If such experience is on a part-time basis, you must provide the average number of hours worked per week as well as the beginning and ending dates of the experience so it can be fully credited.
