Pharmacy Technician (Triage)
What you'd do
The Pharmacy Technician shall provide and support operations of the Community Care Clinical Pharmacists. The technician functions as a resource to pharmacy staff, Non-VA and community care partners, and the Medical center regarding community care prescriptions. The incumbent will support patient care in the Pharmacy waiting room, assisting patients with pharmacy procedures, providing care coordination between pharmacy and providers, and assisting Pharmacy operations as needed
Major duties
The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for the Care In the Community (CITC) Programs, assisting Triage functions at the pharmacy waiting room, support V21 Pharmacy Clinical Contact Center, review and handled daily CMOP rejects in addition to Vista/GUI emails follow up, receive inbound and provide outbound calls. Responsible for reviewing CITC prescription orders for eligibility with pharmacist verification, laboratory value monitoring, medical chart/action profile poly-pharmacy reviews, drug utilization evaluation monitoring, pharmacoeconomic reviews, telephone logistic support and supplemental patient education. Contact Community Care providers, medical facilities, and CITC office to facilitate proper adjudication of prescriptions received from non-VA providers/clinics. Assist the Community Care Clinical Pharmacist in all daily tasks concerning community care prescribed prescriptions and related tasks. Provide various technical support services within the pharmacy department in accordance with the mission, vision and goals of the Pharmacy and the Medical Center. Assigned to triage patients at the outpatient pharmacy waiting room to include answering questions from clinicians, patients or their representatives related to Outpatient pharmacy procedures. Assist in PowerApp case review entered by V21 Pharmacy Clinical Contact Center in addition to reviewing daily consolidated mail order pharmacy (CMOP) rejects, unrelease report and Vista/GUI emails and do all necessary follow ups. Work Schedule: 9:00AM-5:30PM ( Monday- Friday), to include rotational Holiday staffing Permanent Change of Station (Relocation Assistance): Not Authorized Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience. Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66. What you need to qualify

Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. English Language: Must be proficient in written and spoken English Pharmacy Technician, GS-08: Must possess at least one (1) year of experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-07). Experience: Candidates must possess one year of experience equivalent to the next lower grade level and demonstrate the KSAs below. Certification: For positions above the full performance level, the employee must pass a national certification exam and hold an active national certification through either: (a) PTCB as a CPhT. OR (b) NHA as a ExCPT. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs): In addition to the experience above, the candidate must demonstrate the following KSAs for all GS-08 assignments and meet any additional KSAs for the assignment, if indicated: (a) Comprehensive knowledge of concepts, principles, methodology and policies in a specialized area or section of pharmacy (such as sterile compounding, controlled substances, automation, clinical pharmacy, contact center, etc.) May qualify based on being covered by the Grandfathering Provision as described in the VA Qualification Standard for this occupation (only applicable to current VHA employees who are in this occupation and meet the criteria).
