What you'd do

You will serve as a CONSTRUCTION MANAGER in the PLANNING, DESIGN, AND CONSTRUCTION DIRECTORATE of NAVFAC SOUTHWEST.

Major duties

You will be responsible for the enforcement of all technical and administrative provisions of assigned construction contracts. You will act as the technical representative in matters involving contract modifications and claims. You will function as senior engineer/architect and provide expert construction engineering and management advisory services to all activities and tenants served by the Facilities Engineering Command (FEC). You will be responsible for final approval of designs of major structures and facilities involving public safety.

What you need to qualify

This position has a selective placement factor that will be used to screen out ineligible candidates. The selective placement factor is Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE), if applying for the Professional Engineering (0801) series, OR as a Registered Architect (RA), if applying for Professional Architect series (0808). Your registration must be in the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico, or any State in the U.S. NOTE: You must include a copy of your license with your application, or you will be rated ineligible. In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Applying principles, concepts, and theories of advanced engineering/architectural methods and techniques to serve as lead engineer/architect in a quality assurance environment for construction projects; 2) Serving as lead engineer/architect in the full range of construction projects that involve various types of construction contracts, project delivery methods, and regulations governing Federal contract administration; and 3) Providing expert construction engineering and management advisory services to activities and tenants served by a Command. **NOTE** This information must be clearly supported in your resume.
