What you'd do

Serve as an Administrative Support Assistant (OA) with the Department of the Interior, National Park Service, Big South Fork National River & Recreation Area, Division of Administration, in Oneida, Tennessee. Career-Seasonal appointments are permanent positions and include the same benefits as Career appointments, but do not provide work on a year-round basis. You will work approximately 50 weeks from January - December, and you will be in a non-pay status for the remainder of the year.

Major duties

At the full performance level (GS-05) the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following: Serves within the Division of Administration at Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area, providing additional administrative support to Obed Wild and Scenic River and the Manhattan Project National Historical Park in Oak Ridge. Provides administrative support primarily for Facility Management staff. Responsibilities include administrative tasks such as processing payroll using QuickTime and assisting with budget planning and tracking using the Automated Financial System (AFS5) and the Financial and Business Management System (FBMS). Performs purchasing actions for supplies, services, and equipment, selecting the most appropriate procurement method and maintaining accurate tracking of purchase requests to ensure timely delivery of materials. Regularly utilizes Microsoft Office programs-including Teams, Word, Access, Excel-as well as various databases and software applications to complete assigned tasks efficiently. Greets and assists office visitors, furnishes information in person or by phone, gathers information from internal and external contacts, and receives and processes requests. Salary Range Information (Per Annum): GS-05: $40,736 - $52,957 per annum *First time hires to the federal government typically start at the beginning salary in the range for their respective grade level. What you need to qualify

All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. All candidates must also meet Time-in-Grade requirements if applicable. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST state either "full-time" (or "40 hours a week") or "part-time" with the number of hours worked per week to ensure proper crediting of specialized experience. Failure to adequately provide information needed to determine number of hours worked in each position may result in that time not being credited when evaluating qualifying experience. For periods of time that reflect military service, the DD-214 or Statement of Service is sufficient to meet the full and/or part-time hours requirement as the service dates will be reflected. Minimum Qualification Requirements: To qualify for this position, you must meet either A) Specialized Experience, B) Education, or C) Combination below for the GS-05 grade level. A) Specialized Experience: To qualify for the GS-05, you must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience: Completing requisitions for the purchase and procurement of supplies, services, and equipment, and tracking purchase requests, ensuring materials are received. Greeting office visitors, providing information in person or by phone, contacting others for information, and receiving and processing requests for service. Operating office machines (e.g. computers, typewriters, etc.), and utilizing Microsoft Office® software (including Teams, Word, and excel), various database systems and other programs. Processing payroll for office employees. Budget tracking and completing finance tasks including utilizing budget tracking systems and spreadsheets. MUST MEET ALL SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE STATEMENTS IF QUALIFYING BASED SOLELY OFF SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE. -OR- B) Education: You may substitute education for experience if you have achieved: 4 years of successfully completed education above the High School level. -OR- C) Combination: Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience that total 100% of the experience requirements for the GS-5 grade level. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience. Note: If qualifying for the position based solely or partially off of education, transcripts are required to be submitted with your application. Note: Applicants must be qualified typists and be able to type a minimum of 40 words per minute. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
