This vacancy is for a GS-2210-12, Information Technology Specialist located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, NAVCEN WATERWAYS RISK ASSESSMENT AND SUPPORT DIVISION in ALEXANDRIA, Virginia.
Major duties
You will serve as an Information Technology Specialist and be responsible for managing IT and administrative functions including: processing, tracking, and fulfillment of divisional IT product support requests; SharePoint website management; digital cloud-based file organization and management of division Microsoft Teams or industry-standard IT infrastructure; digital file repository establishment, governance, and maintenance for CG NAVCEN waterway utilization studies; Contracting Officer Representative (COR) duties, and IT-related duties identified to fulfill mission execution within the division. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Managing and processing IT product support request forms, ensuring that all requests are accurately documented, prioritized, and resolved in a timely manner. Maintaining a tracking system for all support requests and providing regular updates to customers on the status of their requests. Managing and overseeing governance for the division's internal digital infrastructure and electronic file organization. Serving as the COR for contracting responsibilities related to WRAS divisional efforts.
What you need to qualify
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: To qualify at the GS-12 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the federal or private sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular basis. Specialized experience may include the following: Planning and executing complex IT support and digital infrastructure tasks. Developing innovative methods and procedures to meet evolving organizational needs. Providing expert guidance on IT and administrative issues such as SharePoint, digital file governance, and contracting oversight. Interpreting IT policies, standards, and guidelines. NOTE: Education cannot be substituted for experience at this grade level. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
