What you'd do

Major duties
You will provide support to the planning, development and execution of audits that lead to the certification of facilities, systems, and components. You will provide interpretations of the Deep Submergence System (DSS) requirements during the design, evaluation, and production of new and/or modified designs of assigned systems. You will provide input to management to ensure effective and timely completion of tasks, and in order to anticipate/resolve potential problems. You will provide technical expertise in submarine and or submersible production, overhaul, and associated certification and DSS requirements. You will serve as an expert in DSS, quality assurance and personnel, and systems safety and certification program management, has authority to determine if a facility is authorized to continue with the performance of DSS work. You will manage and review technical reports and recommendations regarding the quality of submersibles, submarine systems or components. You will conduct detailed technical reviews of design specifications, detailed designs, and analyses to ensure feasibility and acceptability of DSS systems. You will assess performance of DSS work, including testing, repair work, and configuration management, as they apply to all phases of the system life cycle. You will be responsible for defining the scope of the effort in accordance with quality assurance requirements or system certification procedures, and ensuring that work within the DSS boundary was satisfactorily accomplished by conducting audits.
What you need to qualify
Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NH-03 (GS-13 equivalency) pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Leading the execution of a major defense acquisition program and undersea experience to support submarine or underwater systems.
