What you'd do

Assigned to Whole Health Service within Patient Care Service Line, and is responsible for program planning, developing, analysis and monitoring of Whole Health data in addition to supervising Whole Health Coaches, Recreation Assistants (Yoga Instructors), Administrative Support and Whole Health Partners under the Whole Health Service. The duties and responsibilities of the position have significant managerial implications on decisions affecting outpatient and inpatient programs and organization.

Major duties

Performing assigned duties in a manner that promotes quality health care, outstanding customer service, and the maintenance of an environment committed to serving Veterans. Manages and controls the use of data related to these programs regarding day-to-day functioning and program evaluation. Plans, organizes, and directs administrative, operational, patient and personnel activities for the Well-Being Programs and/or the Services. Administers information and analytical systems to evaluate and enhance the quality of service provided to patients. Develops and implements information systems to track service activities including visits, referrals, staff productivity, use of Whole Health specific measures, patient demographics, equipment utilization and patient satisfaction in concert with the Whole Health Leadership. Supervises a group of employees performing work at various GS levels (e.g. Complementary and Integrative Health instructors, Whole Health Coaches, and Whole Health Partners) and provides administrative, technical and clinical supervision necessary for accomplishing the work of the unit/services including monitoring outreach efforts and for the management, coordination, planning, and development of key administrative activities for the Whole Health Program. Performs the administrative and personnel management function relative to staff supervised. Formulates, interprets and implements policies and procedures for patient programs and the Whole Health Service, as appropriate. Serves as a member of the Whole Health leadership team, and serves on other VA committees, focus groups, and administrative/clinical boards, representing Whole Health Service on special projects as deemed appropriate. Responsible for submitting reports to the Clinical Director, Medical Center Supervisors/Managers and the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), as appropriate and advising management on issues, making recommendations in a timely manner for improvement in services. What you need to qualify

Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. English Language Proficiency: Candidates must be proficient in spoken and written English to be appointed as authorized by 38 U.S.C. § 7403(f). Education: Have a master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the School of Social Work is fully accredited. A doctoral degree in social work may not be substituted for the master's degree in social work. Verification of the degree can be made by going to http://www.cswe.org/Accreditation to verify that the social work degree meets the accreditation standards for a masters of social work. Licensure: Persons hired or reassigned to social worker positions in the GS-0185 series in VHA must be licensed or certified by a state to independently practice social work at the master's degree level. Grade Determinations: Supervisory Social Worker, GS-13 Experience/Education: One year of experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level. Experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills in a specialty area or in administration demonstrating progressively more professional competency and judgment. Candidate may have certification or other post-master's degree training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship, or equivalent supervised professional experience. Licensure/Certification: Individuals assigned as supervisory social workers must be licensed or certified at the advanced practice level, and must be able to provide supervision for licensure. Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: In addition to the experience above, the candidate must demonstrate all of the following KSAs: (a) Ability to independently organize work, set priorities, and meet multiple deadlines. (b) Skill in a range of supervisory duties which includes clinical supervision, consultation, negotiation with other departments and quality improvement. (c) Ability to ensure provision of clinical social work services by supervised social workers. (d) Ability to delegate authority, manage priorities, coordinate work, and follow up on pending issues to complete duties in an accurate and timely fashion. (e) Ability to analyze organizational and operational problems, develop and implement solutions that result in efficient operations, and use data effectively to manage workload, quality, performance, and productivity within the service.
