Major duties
This position is located within the Department of the Interior, Bureau of Safety & Environmental Enforcement (BSEE), Gulf of America (GOAR), District Field Operations, Lake Jackson District, Well Ops Inspection Unit in Angleton, TX. At the full performance level (GS-12) the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following: 1. Serves as the lead in training and in making recommendations for inspectors. Assists other inspectors as needed on complex inspection issues. 2. Conducts inspections of well operations to ensure compliance with all BSEE and environmental regulations. This includes facilities with known safety and environmental problems or hazards, such as those which contain H2S and sulphur. 3. Maintains facilities compliance with safety and environmental requirements for production operations that include new/advanced systems and issues that regularly arise. 4. Orders the shut-in of facilities, operations or parts of operations which pose an immediate threat to personnel, property, or the environment. 5. Prepares incidents of noncompliance issued, ensuring they are properly prepared, completed and properly references the National Potential Item of Non-Compliance (PINC) List. 6. Completes BSEE Form 182 and clearly explains violations and enforcement actions to operators. The Bureau of Safety & Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework only during and emergency or natural disaster. Salary Information GS-12: Step 1-$103,225 to $134,195 per annum. First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the lower salary range of the grade level. This vacancy may be used to fill additional positions as vacancies become available.

Minimum Qualification Requirements: To qualify for this position you must meet the Specialized Experience for the series to which you are applying. Specialized Experience To qualify for the GS-12, you must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience: 1. Conducts inspections of well operations to ensure compliance with all BSEE and environmental regulations. 2. Assisting the Lead inspector in coordinating inspections and flight plans. 3. Prepare and issue incidents of Non-compliance, properly reference the National Potential of Indicators of Non-compliance (PINC) List, compete BSEE Form 1832, and clearly explain violations and enforcement actions to operators. Must meet all.
