About the Position: The Medical Support Assistant (Scheduler/Office Automation) provides support to the clinics at A. T. Augusta Military Medical Center in Fort Belvoir, Virginia, helping ensure consistent, high-quality patient care and facility operations. This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
Major duties
Serves as Medical Support Assistant (MSA) by acting as a mentor and guide to the medical administrative support team for daily front desk, clerical operations, and providing guidance for clinical service remedies. Serves as the master scheduler for the medical administrative support team. Responsible for the day-to-day administration, template creation, and template publication of medical team schedules. Adheres to and ensures end of day processing, close out procedure, and monitoring of incomplete encounters. Adjusts times of appointments based on changes in healthcare provider’s schedules and shifts patients to other clinic healthcare providers in case of unexpected absences of providers. Reviews and provides strategic optimization of provider panels, ensuring equity and case-mix complexity for all providers.

Basic Requirement for Medical Support Assistant (Scheduler/Office Automation): Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes maintaining records or documentations, reviewing reports or other documents, or coordinating administrative activities. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
