What you'd do

Department of Health & Human Services, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, Office of Strategic Operations and Regulatory Affairs, Divisions of the Program Coordination and Correspondence Group (PCCG). As a Health Insurance Specialist, GS-0107-13, provides leadership for CMS' executive correspondence system and decision-making process and serves as the primary liaison to the Executive Secretariat within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office of the Secretary.

Major duties

Coordinate and manage executive-level correspondence, briefing materials, Reports to Congress, issue papers, and other policy products requiring review or approval by CMS and HHS leadership. Provide technical expertise and policy analysis on complex healthcare issues affecting Medicare, Medicaid, Marketplace programs, program integrity, payment innovation, and related CMS initiatives to support CMS and HHS leadership decision-making. PCCG liaises with CMS’ Centers/Offices and the Chief Operating Officer to coordinate and clear sensitive policy documents, including executive-level correspondence, sub-regulatory guidance documents. Arranging briefings and coordinating internal policy briefing documents with leadership offices in CMS and OS, as well as HHS Assistant Secretaries, on behalf of CMS Centers/Offices.

In order to qualify for the GS-13 , you must meet the following: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, to include: 1. Mediating conflicts regarding health care program correspondence documents and policies; 2. Overseeing clearance processes and compliance of correspondence documents with federal regulations; AND 3. Developing healthcare policy documents and materials for congressional review. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Time-in-Grade: To be eligible, current Federal employees must have served at least 52 weeks (one year) at the next lower grade level from the position/grade level(s) to which they are applying.
