This vacancy is for a GS-2210-11, IT Cybersecurity Specialist (SYSADMIN) located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, C5ISC COMMAND CONTROL and NAVIGATION PRODUCT LINE in Elizabeth City, NC .
Major duties
You will serve as an IT Cybersecurity Specialist (SYSADMIN) and be responsible for managing information technology projects. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Conducting functional and connectivity testing to ensure continuing operability. Maintaining baseline system security according to organizational policies. Monitoring and maintaining system/server configuration. Exercising independent judgment and discretion when assisting with IT cyber contract negotiations and investments. Performing studies that may result in changes of organizational structures or staffing levels requiring labor relation matters. Troubleshooting hardware/software interface and interoperability problems. Mandatory training is required which must be successfully completed and other training may occur as necessary for success in the position. A. Federal Acquisition Certification for Program and Project Managers Level I (FAC P/PM-I) or management determined equivalent within two years of entry into the position. What you need to qualify
To qualify at the GS-11 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience must include performing the following types of tasks on a regular basis. Developing IT system evaluation procedures, utilizing standard testing tools to assess technical specifications, and identifying critical operational issues. Implementing security methods and procedures to safeguard information systems and data, ensuring consistent availability, authentication, confidentiality, and integrity. Knowledge of systems integration and maintenance methods to oversee the installation of hardware/software updates, while maintaining enterprise-level monitoring tools to ensure data integrity and system stability. Troubleshooting, diagnosing, analyzing, and identifying system malfunctions to determine the source and cause of the problem. Assisting contracting or procurement, and contract negotiation and administration. In addition to meeting the specialized experience requirement, you must also have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the competencies listed below.
