What you'd do

This position is located at Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration, Office of Audit. As a Performance Audit Director, you will provide independent oversight of Internal Revenue Service (IRS) programs and operations to promote economy, efficiency, and effectiveness and to detect and deter fraud, waste, and abuse in the administration of the Nation's tax laws.

Major duties

Location may be negotiable subject to operational needs and the availability of office space to one of the following locations only: Chamblee, GA; Cincinnati, OH; Fresno, CA; Memphis, TN; Ogden, UT; Washington, DC. As a Performance Audit Director, you will: - Direct the activities of a major audit directorate focused on defined national programs related to tax administration, including subordinate Audit Managers and staff, to ensure the successful execution of complex, high-impact performance audits across multiple programs and geographic locations. - Oversee audit planning, execution, and reporting activities, including development of input to the Annual Audit Plan to ensure alignment with TIGTA's strategic goals and national priorities. - Provide advice and recommendations to the AIGA on audit program status, emerging risks, and the resolution of significant or disputed findings and recommendations to support organizational priorities and strategic decision-making. - Serve as rating and reviewing official for subordinate supervisors and staff, and takes or recommends personnel actions, including hiring, promotions, disciplinary actions, and awards. - Lead quality assurance and control processes, including review of audit workpapers and reports and monitoring of fieldwork to ensure compliance with appropriate Government Auditing Standards, and TIGTA policies.

What you need to qualify

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement. Specialized Experience: For the GS-15, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as: - Exercising authority over a staff of senior auditors, managing performance evaluations, and professional development.; and - Ensuring audit planning and execution activities are completed in accordance with Government Auditing Standards; and - Delivering audit results to senior leadership through clear and effective written and oral communication. Time-in-Grade: In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-15, you must have been at the GS-14 level for 52 weeks. Time After Competitive Appointment: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a non-temporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.
