What you'd do
This position serves as a Management Analyst in the Southeast District Office in Alpharetta, GA. The Southeast District Office is responsible for providing effective, efficient, and economical direction, and control and operation of the Veteran's Benefits Administration's program of benefits and services provided by law for Veterans, their dependents and beneficiaries at the Regional Offices within the District's geographical area of jurisdiction.
Major duties
Typical duties include, but are not limited to: Conducting management audits, surveys, and systematic reviews of operations; Providing staff assistance in order to develop and implement changes in procedures, operations and staff organization; Preparing graphs, charts, and other audio-visual displays depicting program information and statistics for use in training, management briefings, and information dissemination activities; Reviewing, analyzing, and evaluating reports and statistics in order to advise on trends, out-of-line situations, and anticipated needs; and Tracking funds distribution, reconciling commitments/obligations and reallocating organizational funds. Work Schedule: Fulltime, Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm Compressed/Flexible: Not Available Telework: This position is eligible for situational (ad hoc) telework only. The selectee is required to report to the official duty station each scheduled workday. Telework may be approved only on a case-by-case basis with supervisory approval. What you need to qualify
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement:07/20/2026. TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENT: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. For a GS-12 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-11. If you are a current VBA employee requesting a reassignment or change to lower grade via this vacancy announcement, you must currently hold the GS- 12 (or higher) and the promotion potential of your current position must be at least none.. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: You may qualify based on your experience as described below: GS-12 Grade Level: Specialized Experience: Specialized experience must demonstrate comprehensive, succinct and impeccable organizational skills in order to analyze and distribute email correspondence to large audiences; track and analyze data and statistical information to identify problems, trends and to advise management of anticipated customer needs; preparing graphs, charts, and other audio-visual displays; and experience performing tasks, with minimal oversight, involving budget execution and financial management tracking. Must also demonstrate comprehensive communication skills to present and articulate findings to upper-level management, make clear and convincing oral presentations, assess customer needs and independently track funds distribution, and reconcile commitments/obligations. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Full vs. Part-Time Employment: Full-time employment is considered to be at least 35 hours per week. Part-time experience will be credited on a pro-rated basis; when including part-time employment in your resume you must specify the average hours worked per week. Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary, although some physical effort may be required to preform the duties of the position. The incumbent may sit to do much of the work and extensive use of a computer is required.
