What you'd do

The position is located in a Consolidated Patient Account Center (CPAC) in the organization of the Chief Financial Officer. The CPAC is a regionally consolidated business entity established to enhance revenue operations throughout the VHA network by standardization and consolidation of functions, and the integration of VHA and industry best practices.

Major duties

***THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL OR REMOTE POSITION. SELECTEE WILL BE EXPECTED TO REPORT TO THE DESIGNATED VHA SITE.*** Duties include, but are not limited to: Exercises delegated authority for Accounts Management activities for all the facilities assigned to the CPAC Implements and manages all aspects of financial analysis and reporting on patient account activities Provides guidance and assistance to management on activities involved in analyzing the fiscal position of each CPAC client Responsible for end-to-end ownership and success of reporting and patient account financial analysis activities Develops ad hoc financial, statistical, and performance reports Works closely with CPAC clients to ensure the delivery of effective reporting solutions that bring value to end users Implements information systems to provide analytical and reporting capabilities on patient accounts for CPAC clients Implements reporting applications that complement and enhance CPAC and client reporting capabilities Provides the customer with consistent information according to established policies and procedures Monitors information and analytical systems to evaluate and enhance the quality of service provided to clients Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with others throughout the organization as well as externally Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm Compressed/Flexible: May be available at supervisor's discretion Telework: This position may be authorized for ad hoc telework. What you need to qualify

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 07/27/2026. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-09 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-07. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-07 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Implements and manages all aspects of financial analysis and reporting on patient account activities. Monitors information and analytical systems to evaluate and enhance the quality of service provided to clients. Provides guidance and assistance to management on activities involved in analyzing the fiscal position of clients. Responsible for end-to-end ownership and success of reporting and patient account financial analysis activities. Works closely with clients to ensure the delivery of effective reporting solutions that bring value to end users. OR Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or LL.B OR J.D., if related. OR Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level.
