What you'd do

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base (DIB) & MRTFB in DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: The Watervliet Arsenal is an Army-owned and -operated manufacturing center located in New York. It is the oldest, continuously active arsenal in the United States having begun operations in 1813.

Major duties

Independently perform, with little or no supervision, installation access control for pedestrians and vehicles Validate entry requests through the use of ePACS and grants access to persons and vehicles with appropriate authorizations Initial point of contact for the installation’s visitors which may include foreign nationals, government agents, elective officials, media and VIPs Record visitor information and purpose of visit Grant access to persons, denies entry or arranges for escorts, as appropriate Perform Visitor Control Center (VCC) duties Screen all employees, visitors, consultants, foreign nationals, government agents, elective officials, media representatives, VIPs and contractor personnel daily Serve as a member of the installation’s overall security response capability during actual or simulated incidents Regulate pedestrian and vehicular traffic to prevent accidents and to ease congestion and parking problems Assist in providing initial response and traffic control for vehicular accidents, which may include providing first aid, requesting appropriate emergency responses, securing the scene and identifying witnesses

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) Controlling access of vehicles, visitors and/or pedestrians into a facility; (2) Monitoring systems for visitor entry into a facility; and (3) Providing professional customer service to a broad range of individuals such as: visitors, employees, and/or contractors. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
