HUMAN RESOURCES SPECIALIST (CLASSIFICATION)
What you'd do
You will serve as a HUMAN RESOURCES SPECIALIST (CLASSIFICATION) in the Civilian Human Resources Office of MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP PENDLETON.
Major duties
You will determine the correct classification of positions by comparison to appropriate position classification standards and other reference material related to the work and prepare necessary evaluation statements. You will apply a thorough understating of classification principles and concepts to select, interpret and apply classification standards and guides to secure sound decisions on the classification of positions. You will make determinations in the proper crediting of factor levels and ultimate allocation of grade levels to positions; communicate grade distinctions to management with supporting criteria and justification. You will complete assignments of complex difficulty which include activities performing work of a mental and judgmental nature such as professional, scientific, administrative and technical fields where organizations have complex structures. You will provide sound technical advice to staff and perform position management and classification work for assigned organizations.
What you need to qualify
GS-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience researching and presenting findings in the functional area of classification and skills in written and verbal communication; Experience interpreting regulations, applying new methods to resolve controversial issues and problems.; Experience preparing common position and job descriptions, preparing draft evaluations as required by authority. GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience applying a wide range of classification and position management theories, concepts, practices, laws, policies, rules, regulations, precedents and procedures required to perform a variety of assignments; Experience researching and applying findings to provide solutions to a wide range of classification and position management functions; Experience preparing and/or reviewing position and job descriptions, conducting desk audits, writing reports of findings, providing classification training and preparing evaluations as required by authority Additional qualification information can be found from the following Office of Personnel Management web site: https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/#url=List-by-Occupational-Series Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social).
