About the Position: As a Safety and Occupational Health Manager, you will serve as the principal safety and health manager for both Occupational Safety and Environmental Health programs.

Major duties

Manage and administers the Safety and Occupational Health program. Manage surveys, evaluations, studies, audits, and accident investigation/reporting. Oversee safety aspects of Civil Works Project Operations. Assess contractor compliance with contractual requirements. Inspect the district, organizations, facilities, and operations including all government-occupied buildings and quarters, construction sites and work sites, etc.., to ensure compliance with appropriate safety rules, regulation and guidelines. Formulate District policies and provides program direction by issuing regulations, standards, and technical guidance. Manage surveys, evaluations, studies, audits, and accident investigation/reporting.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. GS-12 Specialized Experience which is: One year of specialized experience which includes (1)Providing guidance on safety regulations, policies, procedures, and standards; (2) Developing techniques to control and/or eliminate hazardous conditions; (3) Performing field surveys of construction and maintenance work sites for compliance with policies and standards; and (4) Presenting briefings and reports for presentations and/or meetings. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11 GS-13 Specialized Experience which is: One year of specialized experience which includes implementing a safety and occupational health program which requires the planning, organizing, and evaluation of a program with diverse but recognized hazards in areas such as construction and engineering environments; achieving compliance with regulatory provisions and/or effectively communicating multiple safety and occupational health practices and/or procedures to staff and line personnel. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12) Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For the GS-12-13, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11-12)
