Supervisory Investigator (Senior Officials)
What you'd do
This position is located in the Department of War Office of the Inspector General (DoW OIG), Deputy Inspector General for Administrative Investigations (DIG-AI). The incumbent serves the Chief of the Oversight Branch and reports to the Director of the Investigations of Senior Officials (ISO) Directorate.
Major duties
Directs teams of senior official investigators and support personnel in high visibility and complex reviews of investigations of top management officials of the Department of War. Assigns work to subordinates based on priorities, difficulty of assignments, and the capabilities of employee; provides technical oversight and reviews work products. Duties also involve investigative work for senior official investigations and special assignments into allegations of senior official misconduct. Monitors interim reports of investigative reviews to ensure progress is being made in accordance with established deadlines. Evaluates final reports of investigation for compliance with established investigative policies and standards.
What you need to qualify
Time in Grade: For entry at the GS-15 grade level, status applicants must have served 52 weeks as a GS-14 or equivalent or higher grade in the Federal Service. Specialized Experience: Applicants must have one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-14) or equivalent within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. Specialized experience is defined as reviewing, oversighting, or evaluating investigations, including reviewing standards, evidence, or investigative reports. Applicants must have experience researching Federal Laws, regulations, and other policies, and applying those standards when reviewing evidence or investigative reports. Experience also includes making process improvement recommendations based upon trends identified in reviews of investigations, experience leading a team, assigning and monitoring work, and evaluating staff performance. You must meet the minimum qualification requirements as stated in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Operating Manual, Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions: http://www.opm.gov/qualifications/Standards/group-stds/gs-prof.asp. Paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social) is qualifying. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience. Qualification and time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement. Applicants who have held a non-temporary General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must meet the time-in-grade restriction.
