What you'd do

This position is in the Office of Land and Emergency Management (OLEM). About: OLEM This is an office-centered position--you must physically report to the duty station stated in this announcement on a regular basis.

Major duties

You will: Develop and implement strategies to ensure information on a wide variety of topics flows between the OLEM Assistant Administrator, Deputy Assistant Administrators, Office Directors, and Regional Offices in a smooth and timely manner. Maintain schedules, calendar, and day-to-day logistics surrounding meetings involving OLEM Principals. Coordinate the review and approval of documents and briefing materials across OLEM Principals. Carry out program assessments, analyses of issues, data analyses, and requests for information on behalf of the OLEM Immediate Office and OLEM Leadership. One or more positions may be filled (in the organization advertised and/or in other organizations), if appropriate to the position.

What you need to qualify

NOTE: You must meet qualification requirements by the closing date of this announcement. To qualify for the GS-13 level, you must have 1 year of full-time* specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level defined as applying analytical and evaluative methods and techniques to assess program effectiveness and efficiency; utilizing continuous process improvement strategies; and providing advice and guidance on policy, planning, operations, or projects related to environmental programs, enforcement and compliance, tribal or international affairs, land and emergency response, human resources, and/or finance. You will need the following competencies in order to perform the duties of this position successfully: Oral Communication Political Savvy Critical Thinking Written Communication* Teamwork Problem Solving* Strategic Thinking Planning and Evaluating Program/Project Management/Evaluation* *You will be evaluated on these critical competencies. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
