What you'd do

This position is located in the Nutrition and Food Division at the Clement J. Zablocki Medical Center, Milwaukee, WI (695) - a Level 1a Complexity VHA Facility.

Major duties

Major Duties: Provides leadership to 7.4 FTEE Health Technician (Dietetic), GS-0640-05 positions Distribute and balance workload among employees Keeps in touch with the status and progress of work and makes day-to-day adjustments in accordance with established priorities Provides on the job training to new employees Practices excellent customer service skills in all forms of communication Maintains vital connection between Nutrition Communication Center (NCC) Associates, Registered Dietitian, higher graded dietetic technicians, food service staff, Nursing, patients and guests Responsible for the independent and accurate transfer of information received via COTS Dietetics software Generates appropriate paper ticket for each meal service in the event the COTS Dietetics software program is inoperable and meal ticket may not be printed Prints lists, reports, labels, and tray tickets following the established local facility procedures Performs other duties as assigned. Work Schedule: 10:30am-7:00pm with weekends and holidays, as scheduled Telework: This position may be authorized for telework. Telework eligibility will be discussed during the interview process. What you need to qualify

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 07/27/2026. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-5 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Experience where you applied knowledge of nutrition screening process; programs and systems used to manage patient diet orders and preferences; skill in conducting diet education to selected groups of patients and individuals; ability to work collaboratively with patients and coworkers to provide nutrition care.. OR, Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have successfully completed a full four (4) year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree, with a major study or at least 24 semester hours in subjects directly related to this position (i.e. nutrition, dietary therapy, food and nutrition science, food service systems management, etc.). This education must have been obtained in an accredited business or technical school, junior college, college or university for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. NOTE: Transcripts (unofficial or official) must be submitted with your application materials. Education cannot be credited without documentation.. OR, Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education (beyond the second year after high school) and specialized experience, as listed above. The education portion must include courses directly related to the work of the position (i.e. nutrition, dietary therapy, food and nutrition science, food service systems management, etc.). This education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university. NOTE: Your experience must be documented in your resume and transcripts are required..
