Custodial Worker Supervisor
What you'd do
This position is located in the Architect of the Capitol, Office of the Chief Operating Officer, Superintendent, House Office Buildings (HOB), Assistant Superintendent, Client Services Division, Labor and Custodial Branch, Day or Night Labor and Custodial Sections. The incumbent is a Custodial Worker Supervisor and oversees the cleaning operations in the House Office Buildings.
Major duties
The tour of duty for this position is 5:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday – Friday. This position functions as a first line supervisor over laborers and custodial workers assigned to the Day/Night Labor and Custodial Section. Duties include, but are not limited to: Perform administrative and technical supervisory functions for subordinates. Assign duties to subordinates and evaluate their performance. Provide assistance to other trade shops to perform various duties for short term repair and construction projects. Assign the work to his or her subordinates and perform quality and progress checks to ensure work is being performed to acceptable standards. Prepare and maintain daily status reports for work orders, projects/assignments and employee leave. Develop performance requirements for subordinates and ensure a mutual understanding of the performance standards. Resolve complaints and grievances. Provide leadership to ensure support for equal employment opportunity (EEO) goals and requirements. Provide for employee skills enrichment through job related coaching, mentoring and training. Make recommendations to the supervisor concerning personnel matters such as employment and promotion; initiate disciplinary actions; schedule and approve leave; and keep time and attendance records. Provide or receive training, either on the job or through classroom training, to ensure that all direct reports know how to use required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Perform other related duties as assigned.
