This position is located in the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), National Ocean Service (NOS), Office of National Marine Sanctuaries (ONMS), with two vacancies in Monterey, CA; Key West, FL; Key Largo, FL. Major duties
As a Resource Protection Coordinator, you will perform the following duties: Directly support national marine sanctuaries through policy formulation, analysis, coordination and evaluation for resource protection, conservation science, and collaborative management in support of the Office of National Marine Sanctuaries (ONMS) mission and vision. Assure close cooperation and coordination on management priorities within ONMS, and with key external governmental and non-governmental partners interested in improving sanctuary management. Provide technical expertise to advise the Superintendent on opportunities for programmatic advancement and maturation, internal ONMS history, analysis of other organizations, and proactive participation in training or other learning opportunities. Recommend initiatives or actions to senior leadership that support the timely and effective development and implementation of priority policy objectives. Represent the Superintendent, as needed, at appropriate meetings, conferences, or other events with relevant government entities, private organizations, academia, and other key partners. POSITION REQUIREMENTS: This position requires the operation of a Federal motor vehicle. Position requires driving a government vehicle for field work, movement of equipment and/or supplies between buildings, acquisition of supplies, or meetings at other locations. Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid state driver's license to operate a government vehicle.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the next lower grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. This experience need not have been in the federal government. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies; knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. To qualify at the ZA-4 or GS-13 level: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must possess one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the ZA-3 or GS-12 in the Federal service. Specialized experience MUST include all of the following: Analyzing and compiling marine sanctuary or environmental resources management policies in order to develop reports and papers; Collaborating with governmental and non-governmental partners for the improvement of resources management for a marine sanctuaries or environmental program; and Presenting reports and recommendations related to environmental resources or marine sanctuaries programs and policies to internal and external partners.
