Science Policy Analyst
What you'd do
This position is being filled under a stream-lined hiring authority, Title 21 of the United States Code (21 US Code 379d-3a) as amended by the 21st Century Cures Act of 2016, section 3072 and the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2023, Section 3624. The candidate selected for this position will serve under a career or career-conditional appointment and be paid under the provisions of this authority. This position is being recruited based on the Title 21 Pay Table 1, Band D $143,913 - $197,200.
Major duties
Serves as an advisor and spokesperson in matters related to scientific and regulatory policy and procedures, as well as other areas that affect the Office's mission-critical programs and activities. Initiates, coordinates, monitors and/or reviews the development and implementation of scientific and regulatory policies, standards, and procedures. Independently weighs potential scientific, regulatory, and administrative impact of the recommended policies and advises senior officials accordingly to ensure application of scientific and regulatory policy. Design, development, and implementation of programs to educate stakeholders on scientific and regulatory policies, including the 505(b)(2) regulatory program. Provides guidance, on a regular basis, to management and advises leadership on clearance of novel and precedent-setting scientific matters related to new drug product development based on analysis of various innovative approaches. Monitors new legislation, new or revised regulations, new or revised guidance, internal policies and procedures and trends in the pharmaceutical and health care industries that could require changes to new drug scientific and regulatory policy.

In order to qualify for the Science Policy Analyst position which falls under the 0601 occupational Series, you must meet the following requirements by 11:59 pm EST on 07/24/2026: Basic Qualification Requirements: Education Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education(external link) at the time the degree was obtained. NOTE: Applicants must submit all relevant transcripts that demonstrate you possess the required education to meet the Basic Qualifications.
