What you'd do

This position is located in the Human Resources Division, Arlington, VA. The selectee of this position serves as a Human Resources Specialist (Classification). You will be responsible for providing expert advisory services on position classification and job evaluation for General Schedule (GS), Senior Executive Service, and FWS positions.

Major duties

As a Human Resources Specialist (Classification) at the GS-0201-13 level, some of your typical work assignments may include: Conducts classification reviews, audits positions descriptions, and ensures compliance with OPM classification standards. Assists with the development of classification and position management guidelines. Advises management on how to establish organizational structures that are efficient, cost effective, support desired grade levels and facilitate career development. Provides assistance to employees with classification appeals. What you need to qualify

GS-13 TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-12 grade level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-13 grade level. (Must submit your SF-50 that shows Time-in-Grade eligibility and reflects your title, series, and grade. No award SF-50 will be accepted). You may qualify at the GS-0201-13 level, if you fulfill the following qualifications: 1) Applying the full range of position classification and position management principles, concepts, practices, and techniques; 2) Applying classification standards to evaluate position descriptions; 3) Provide guidance on position management and organizational structure; and 4) Develop and present training on classification and position management. Applicants may not qualify for this position based on education in lieu of specialized experience at the GS-13 grade level.
