The primary purpose of this position is: As an Air Reserve Technician, accomplishes a variety of duties involving assisting in readiness and capability to perform peacetime/wartime mission, to support programs and systems which ensure members are properly trained and equipped, to provide peacetime/wartime medical support, and to provide training to members in the accomplishment of tasks set forth herein.
Major duties
Provides direct support to the senior Air Reserve Technician in planning, directing, implementing, and controlling all elements of medical unit on a day-to-day basis. Provides support toward conducting studies, collecting data and identifying trends. Assists in reviewing status of training and personnel assets. Completes tracking of unit funds and medical/non-medical supply expenditures and activities. Coordinates with appropriate authorities to determine medical support requirements.
What you need to qualify
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Clerical and Administrative Support Positions, SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 level in federal service (or equivalent in other pay systems) in which equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) to perform successfully the duties of the position. Specialized experience is experience which includes experience working in a medical administrative office maintaining medical records, related correspondence and forms, scheduling physical examinations, and tracking medical unit requirements and suspenses. OR EDUCATION: Successful completion of one full year of graduate education in a field directly related to the position being filled. NOTE: YOU MUST SUBMIT COPIES OF YOUR TRANSCRIPTS. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100 percent. To combine education and experience, determine the total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level. Then determine the education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level. Finally, add the two percentages. Knowledge of practices, procedures, and methods used to measure the effectiveness, efficiency, and productivity of responsible medical programs and medical administrative concepts, theories, procedures and techniques, as well as specialized knowledge of wartime medical operations and missions. Knowledge of medical planning and programming concepts and a thorough knowledge of organizational medical mission, equipment specifications (Allowance Standards) and operational parameters. Knowledge of medical and administrative programs throughout the organization in order to conduct studies, analyze findings, and make recommendations on substantive program changes within the organization. Skill and ability to prepare project/staff reports and deliver briefings to high level officials and skilled in meeting with the public, presenting briefings and working with others. Ability to plan, organize and communicate both orally and in writing. OTHER SIGNIFICANT FACTS PERTAINING TO THIS POSITION ARE: This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position. Must meet and maintain Air Force Reserve requirements. The incumbents regular assignments are primarily ART duties; however, the incumbent may also be assigned some non-ART duties, generally not to exceed 30% of total responsibilities. Work schedule will also be so aligned to allow the individual to function fully on unit training assembly (UTA) weekends. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
