About the Position: This position are located at Evans Army Community Hospital, Fort Carson, CO. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service.

Major duties

Serve as Supervisory Medical Support Assistant (Office Automation) over a group of medical support assistants performing receptionist, record keeping, files management, office automation, and miscellaneous clerical duties. Assign work based on priorities and employees’ capabilities of daily, weekly or monthly requirements, providing special instructions as necessary for new or unusual assignments. Review work for compliance with policy and procedures and efficiency of service provided. Perform the full range of medical clerk, receptionist, record keeping and miscellaneous clerical duties. Assure quality, quantity, and accuracy requirements are met by reviewing reports from software systems and databases. Track globally transferred patients for approval, updates patient Electronic Health Record (EHR) to reflect dates and location the transfer was approved. Develop performance standards and evaluates work performance of employees and prepares formal performance appraisals.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Basic Requirement for a Supervisory Medical Support Assistant (Office Automation): Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience in entering, manipulating, and retrieving information from a medical automated systems; Scheduling and coordinating medical appointments for patients; Providing technical guidance, such as reviewing reports for accuracy, ensuring compliance with policies and operating instructions, and/or providing support to hospital staff; Providing information to patients such as hospital policy and procedures, or patient eligibility. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). This position requires a typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute (WPM) based on a 5 minute sample with 3 or fewer errors. Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
