What you'd do

You will serve as a SUPERVISORY ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN in the COMBAT SYSTEMS DIVISION, ENGINEERING AND PLANNING DEPARTMENT of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Major duties

You will act as a Chief Test Engineer-Weapons (CTE-W) in the Combat Systems Division at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. You will develop, direct, schedule and coordinate a test program on the submarines to ensure a thorough test program. You will maintain the day to day progress, conditions and status of testing and report this information to senior shipyard managers. You will assign work to personnel based upon personal ability and special knowledge. You will ensure preparations for and the conduct of the test program meet all technical and safety requirements. You will audit shipboard testing in progress and take action to ensure testing is performed in accordance with approved procedures. You will ensure the timelessness and cost effectiveness of the work performed.

What you need to qualify

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience utilizing submarine weapons systems, operating principles, component functions, and testing requirements. Experience managing and accomplishing a combat system test program on one or more new overhaul submarines. Experience utilizing mechanical and electrical weapons systems and equipment. Experience in the application of principles and theories of physical and engineering sciences, and practices of electronics, electrical and mechanical engineering.
