What you'd do

This position is part of the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC), Office of Contracting and Corporate Services (OCCS). As a Reasonable Accommodation Coordinator, you will be responsible for management, oversight, and policies related to DFC's Reasonable Accommodation (RA) Program.

Major duties

Serve as DFC's principal technical advisor and coordinator for the Reasonable Accommodation program. Provide authoritative advice and guidance to senior leadership, managers, supervisors, employees, applicants, and other stakeholders concerning Federal laws, executive orders, OPM guidance, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC)-related requirements, agency directives, and decisions governing reasonable accommodation and disability employment. Interpret and apply reasonable accommodation requirements to individual requests, complex workplace situations, and agency wide conditions unique to DFC. Resolve questions concerning the interpretation of laws, regulations, and policies and their application to special situations. Review requests and supporting justifications requiring approval by the Chief Operating Officer or higher authority. Evaluate the sufficiency of documentation, analyze the reasonableness and effectiveness of proposed accommodations, recommend approval or denial, and prepare decision documents, correspondence, and related briefing materials. Coordinate the receipt, review, tracking, analysis, and resolution of reasonable accommodation requests from DFC employees and applicants. Facilitate the interactive process among the requesting individual, supervisor, management officials, the Office of Human Resources Management, legal counsel, information technology, facilities, procurement, security, and other stakeholders as appropriate. Please Note: This is not a Bargaining unit position.

What you need to qualify

Status candidates must meet time-in-grade requirements (52 weeks at the next lower grade level). Applicants must meet all eligibility and qualification requirements no later than the closing date of this announcement. TIME-IN-GRADE: Current career or career-conditional employees of the Federal government, or former career or career-conditional employees, who have a break in service of less than one year, are required to meet the time-in-grade restriction of one year of Federal experience at the next lower grade, with few exceptions outlined in 5 CFR 300.603(b). You may qualify at the GS-14 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service that demonstrates your ability to lead, coordinate, and provide senior-level advisory support for a reasonable accommodation program. This includes experience in ALL of the following: 1) evaluating accommodation requests; 2) facilitating and/or participating in the reasonable accommodation interactive process; 3) advising appropriate parties on reasonable accommodation requests, such as managers, employees, applicants, human resources officials, Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) officials, legal counsel, and senior leaders; 4) acting as a decision-official for reasonable accommodation requests; AND 5) managing an organization's reasonable accommodation program, to include duties such as preparing and delivering decision notifications and justifications; developing or improving reasonable accommodation policies, procedures, training, tracking systems, or internal controls; coordinating implementation of effective accommodations; handling confidential medical information; and analyzing program data to assess timeliness, compliance, trends, risks, and program effectiveness. Note: Education is not substitutional at this grade level. Please Note: Applicants may be asked to produce a writing sample during the interview stage. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. This announcement may be used to fill similar positions, if additional vacancies occur.
